Some exciting news to share! Jojo Rabbit, the highly anticipated feature film that stars our wonderful young performer Archie Yates, will be released in US cinemas on the 18th October. It will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September.
This “anti-hate satire” is set in World War II. It tells the story of a young German boy named Jojo “Rabbit” Betzler, who is shocked when he learns his mother Rosie is harbouring a Jewish girl in their attic. It is based on the book Caging Skies by Christine Leunens.
Well-loved filmmaker and comedian Taika Waititi writes and directs the feature film, which is distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures.
Waititi, who is Māori-Jewish, also stars as a ridiculous and guileless version of Adolf Hitler. The darkly comic film features Hollywood heavyweights Scarlett Johansson, Rebel Wilson, Stephen Merchant and Sam Rockwell, and is guaranteed to be both hilarious and heart-warming.
Archie Yates, one of AAM’s young performers, stars as Yorki, a friend of Jojo’s.
The first official trailer was released on Tuesday.
