AAM were delighted to join star Archie Yates at the London premiere of Taika Waititi’s new “anti-hate satire” Jojo Rabbit.
The premiere took place on Saturday 5 October at the beautiful Odeon Luxe cinema in Leicester Square as part of the BFI Film Festival. AAM client Archie Yates plays Jojo’s best friend Yorki in the film. He was a natural on the red carpet as he posed for photos and gave interviews to press. Also in attendance were writer and director Taika Waititi, producer Carthew Neal, and fellow cast members Roman Griffith Davis, Thomasin McKenzie, Alfie Allen, and Sam Haygarth.
Taika Waititi’s recent successes, What We Do in the Shadows, and Thor Ragnarok, have made him hot property in Hollywood. And this latest offering is sure to propel his winning streak along. Infused with Waititi’s trademark whimsical humour, Jojo Rabbit is topical and heartwarming.
The film is beautifully directed, with laugh-out-loud moments alongside touching scenes that add up to a story about hope, tolerance, and love –– even in the hardest of times.
It features masterful performances by Hollywood veterans Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, and Rebel Wilson, as well as a memorable comedy cameo by Stephen Merchant.
Archie was accompanied by his parents and his agent Deborah Atwell as he took to the red carpet before the gala screening of the film, which is already being tipped as a potential Oscar success after winning this year’s people’s choice award at the Toronto film festival. The last few winners of the people’s choice award all won or been nominated for the best picture Oscar. Previous winners include Slumdog Millionaire, 12 Years a Slave, and The King’s Speech.
People on Twitter are already falling in love with the young star, whose hilarious performance as Yorki is stealing everybody’s hearts. Asked on the red carpet what it was like working with Taika Waititi, Archie replied: “Taika’s the funniest guy I’ve ever met!”
After the screening, AAM joined Archie and the cast at an after party at the Ham Yard Hotel in Leicester Square.
AAM’s Deborah Atwell said, “It was truly a memorable night supporting Archie in his first feature film. He is the most loveable and naturally gifted 10 year old talent who carried himself with such grace and confidence on the red carpet – making us all very proud!”
AAM will be joining Archie and the cast at the LA premiere on October 15. The film will open in the US on October 18, and will open in the UK on January 3 2020.
